The week starts with Sir Cecil Beaton, one of the most celebrated British photographers and a legend of the fashion and arts world. An accomplished portraitist, Beaton also excelled in painting, writing and costume design. His accolades include two Academy Awards for Costume Design for Gigi (1958) and My Fair Lady (1964).

“The camera will never be invented that could capture or encompass all that he actually sees,” Truman Capote on Cecil Beaton

His works captured the world of fashion, art and glamour for Vougue, Tatler and Vanity Fair, while his most famous subjects included Elizabeth Taylor, Audrey Hepburn, Marlyn Monroe and many others.

Sir Cecil has also served as the official photographer of the British Royal Family and is the author of the most famous portrait of young Queen Elizabeth.
